In reading the family tree inserted in the Keith Matthews name file for Weston it is suggested that Benjamin Weston, who married Sarah Weston, daughter of William MAY have been a son of Ambrose Weston of Poole. But this is not absolutely certain.

There may have been a second Benjamin Weston in Poole who married Judith because the entry in Keith Matthews Weston name file gives her as the mother of a son Benjamin whose father was Ambrose but there is a problem with the date -- 1707. And this was the date of baptism evidently, not birth.• Alt. Death: Cir 1740.

Notes
General:
There is a death recorded of a Catherine Carter, aged 99, in the C of E records in Ferryland (NLGS website), recorded by Minister H.H. Hamilton. The date given is December 10, 1848.
From Newfoundland's Grand Banks website transcript of articles in the Royal Gazette:
December 5, 1848: Carter, Catherine; Died at age 99 at Ferryland on December 3. Wife of late William Carter, Esq, Judge of the vice-Admiralty Court of this Island and daughter of Peter Weston, Esq. JP of Bristol, merchant deceased. Mrs. Carter was paralyzed for 3 ½ years.
281106: George LeMessurier's family tree incorrectly notes that she was buried in 1844 (not 1848) but gives correct age (99 years)
150715:
The Keith Matthews name file gives her place of death as Bristol but this may have been a misreading of the article as he also quotes the Gazette as the source of his information.

Enid O'Brien provided clarification today in the form of a document from the Carter Papers (see Media folder) that the lands near the pool later considered the very heart and soul of William Carter's wide ranging lands were actually his only because of his marrying Catherine Weston. and Catherine's widowed mother had successfully petitioned the governor at the time to all her to hold onto her late husband's property which had been granted to him on condition that it always be used for its original purpose -- the fishery. The lands in turn were willed to Catherine and her sister Sarah (her only surviving sibling).

050721:
There seems to be a prevalent belief that her full name was Ann Catherine Weston. Jean Carter Stirling has her as such in her research notes on the Carter and this is how she is shown on FamilySearch,, Ancestry and other online family trees but in no case is there a supporting document to verify this and in every document which does refer to her she is always referred to simply as Catherine. So I am not adding the name Ann Catherine as an alternate.
In addition, there is also a prevalent tendency to suggest that she was born in Bristol. There is no evidence to support this and the fact that her father and grandfather were established merchants operting out of Newfoundland makes it far more plausible that she was born there.
