240910: This may or may not be the marriage of this John Dalrymple. There were others marrying about this time but this was the only one in Stirling. And the brides name, though actually Jean White in this record, may have gotten corrupted into Jane Robertson, which was the name given for the mother of the bride on the marriage record of Alison Dalrymple when she married William Aitken.

Linda Merle sent me information on the early Dalrymples in this part of Stirlingshire. This bit of information caught my eye:

"Mary Dalrymple married Thomas Fish 4 Nov 1789 in Falkirk."

It seems obvious that she was the sister of Thomas Dalrymple who named one of his sons James Fish Dalrymple.

I have from Falkirk Dalrymple married Thomas Fish 4 Nov 1789 in Falkirk.

They recorded marriages in the parishes of both of the couples. So we know Thomas was a brewer! One of my McLay ancestors was a spirit merchant -Wow so it works out <grin>.
