Email from Enid O'Brien dated 21/11/01:

"Mary Anne was called Annie. She was the eldest dgt of Peter Winsor (1835- after 1898), a protestant from Aquafort, Southern Shore, and a ship's carpenter and rigger, and Catherine Mary Flynn (abt 1846-1883) who were md in St. John's 19 Nov 1861 (RC Catherdral) by the Rev John Vereker.

Annie Winsor was born in St. John's and baptised there 09 Sept 1863 (RC Cathedral) by the Rev Richard O'Donnell. The Godparents were Richard Meagher/Mary Keogh. Richard Meagher was listed in the 1864/65 St. John's Directory as a tidewaiter living @ 64 Cochrane St, in 1871 as a clerk, in 1885/86 as Richard "Maher" Master Mariner, and in 1890 and 1898 as Richard A Meagher, broker - all at the same address. [A tidewaiter was a custons official who boarded incoming vessels to prevent custom evasion]. (My note - Richard Meagher was probably originally from Aquaforte).

Annie's family moved to Boston where they lived for a few years in the 1870s before returning to St. John's. After the death of her mother, her father was married X 2 in St. John's 26 May 1892 (Congregational Church) to Harriet Allen Chafe (b 1840) widow Washington Hill Winsor (1840-1882) who had drowned, son of his first cousin, Capt Henry Winsor (above). They were living on Brazil's Square in St. John's in 1898.

The witnesses to the marriage of James Myler/Annie Winsor were Dennis J Cantwell/Catherine Fucheon. Dennis Cantwell was the son of Florence Cantwell and Catherine Foran.

Annie (Winsor) Myler probably died in St. John's in 1885 of complications from the birth of triplets. James Myler died of "congestion of Lungs' at his home @ 61 New Gower St in St. John's 28 Dec 1887, age 36 yrs.

Alexander Myler (1883 liv 1900) (son of Annie Winsor/James Myler was born in St. John's 05 Aug 1883 and named for his father's brother, Alexander Myler. He was baptized in St. John's 09 Aug 1883 (RC Cathedral). The Godparents were James Colford Jr and Martha Winsor (relative of his mother). Alexander either died or moved away from St. John's as a young man as there is no mention of him after 1900 when he was Godfather @ the baptism of his first cousin, Isabel Mgt Myler.

Their triplets were born 24 July 1885 at Lake View Cottage in St. John's and probably died shortly after birth. They were two male and one female child."

The date of birth from the church register transcript and the date of christening from the vital statistics transcript are at odds with one another. I think that the month is incorrect in one record but don't know which -- March or May.

Actually the original photo of the DPHW record found on FamilySearch today does not give a date of birth and the date of baptism is clearly March 27, 1881 so it seems that Helen Steinke entered the information in the wrong place in her Reunion database and also entered the wrong month. I am changing the birth date today to "Bef. March 27, 1881"
