From NGB website (note spelling of Ann without an "e" on the end:
Will of Ann Hamlyn from Newfoundland will books volume 9 pages 487-488 probate year 1912
In re Ann Hamlyn deceased.
This is the last will and Testament of me Ann Hamlyn of St. John's widow First - I give and bequeath to my Daughter Maude Hamlyn her executors administrators and assigns the Dwelling House with all contained therein together with my Two gardens and all live stock which I shall possess at the time of my death absolutely and for ever. Second. I leave and bequeath to my son Moses for his use during his life all my other property land or otherwise not mentioned above being bequeathed to my Daughter Maude and after his death to his children share and share alike. Lastly I appoint my said Daughter Maude sole Executrix of this my last will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand at St. John's Newfoundland this seventh day of September A.D. one thousand nine hundred and seven - Anne her x mark Hamlyn - Signed published and declared by the said Testatrix as and for her last will and Testament in our presence who at her request in our presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto set our hands as witnesses on the day and year and place above written the same having been first read over and explained to the said Testatrix Henry Cowan. Augustus O. Hayward
Certified correct, D. M. Browning Registrar
(Listed in the margin next to this will the following) Fiat Emerson J. Aug. 22/12 Probate Aug. 29/12 granted to Maud Hamlyn Estate sworn at $1000.00
The spelling of Ann/Anne is pronbably irrelevant since she signed with an x and was obviously illiterate and did not know how to spell her own name.
The fact that there are no provisions for the children of Maude (Maudella) proves she never married (she was buried under the name Hamlyn).
Evidently she had inherited a fair bit of property from her husband. This was at least partially the property around Hamlyn's Store on Topsail Rd. where the Village mall is now located.

The 1921 Census lists his wife, Leah (aged 64) and "daughter" (aged 8, born in 1913). Obviously the latter is biologically impossible. She was more than likely their granddaughter (possibly illegitimate child of their daughter) or adopted.
