Mar 1, 1996 Carew, Douglas J. - Passed peacefully away at the Grace Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer, Douglas J. Carew, age 49 years. Pre-deceased by his parents, Austin and Mary Ellen Carew. Leaving to mourn his loving and devoted wife, Tammy, one son, Austin; two daughters, Amanda and Sarah; one brother Tommy (Margaret), Cape Broyle, three nephews: Paul and Michael, Halifax, Damien, Cape Broyle; special brother-in-law, Kippy Hayden and friend Harold Brennan; and a large circle of relatives and Friends. Resting at Ryan`s Funeral Home, Bay Bulls. Eileen Theresa Carew - Passed peacefully away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital on Monday, January 12, 2015, Eileen Teresa Carew, aged 81 years. Eileen had a passion for life. She lived alone and managed her life with a private intensity. Eileen was organized - everything had a place and everything was in its place. Eileen had her day for Robert take out the stove ash (Thursday). Her community included (but not limited to): Robert "The Helper"; Don "The Neighbour"; Patricia, Louise, Theresa and Patsy "The Friends"; Albert "The Mechanic"; Sheila "The Only Survivor"; Melissa and Megan "The Future"; And I, Gerry, who joins all in saying to Eileen, "Good Night." A special thanks to Winnie Vickers (your stories and advice were most helpful) and Sharon Mulcahy for sharing Eileen's last hours. Also, thank you to the nursing staff at St. Clare's for all their compassion and care. Cremation has taken place and a Mass will follow when the flowers bloom and then burial at the family plot (Cape Broyle). As expressions of sympathy, donations in Eileen's honour may be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Cancer Care Centre.
