According to Church records, a John Morey and an Alice Morey witnessed the wedding (note spellings). They were undoubtedly her brother and sister. M.A. Clancy officiated.

Note that the latter information is incorrect. She was the 5th daughter of John Morry, but several died as children.

According to an interview with Tom Goodyear conducted by Anna Elton Morris in 1985 Dr. Carey met his future wife on a hunting trip in Newfoundland. He also related the story that as an 8 month old infant she was shipwrecked off Mistaken Point on the S. S. Hanoverian when she had been taken to visit her grandparents and that Alexander Graham Bell was on the ship at the time of the sinking.

"In 1905, while on a visit to St. John's, he learned that Dr. R. H. Carey, stipendiary magistrate at Trepassey, had died and he applied for the post. Dr. Carey was a veteran of the American Civil War who had come to Newfoundland and first practiced at Ferryland where he married Miss Minnie Morry. In 1889 he was made magistrate of Trepassey and died there in July, 1905."
