310811: Geoffrey Martin is not certain which of the 3 sons of Thomas Martin was the father of William but believes that it was John. here are his arguments:

William is an educated guess as a son of John. I have traced whatever of the children of the other sons and there is no mention of a son William. John, the potential father may have died in Halifax. I have passed this on to some other Martin descendants of this line but the information and their lack of response has fallen into a black hole.

There are also some other factors. The note below indicates that William was born circa 1820 as he died in 1886 at age 66. Henry, brother of John married Grace Gallop from Grand Bank in 1828 and Thomas, the other brother, married Anne Murren/Murrain/Murrin in 1828. So John must be or is most likely the father. I have gone online to search on Nova Scotia Genealogy online but cannot get anything on a John Martin who died in Halifax in 1879. I have not found a John who would fit in the St. John's area. Age 83 in 1879 fits the approximate DOB for John as a son of Thomas.

280911: from Bill Watson: "Laura" is "Aunt Lol" down here. She married a man named McKenna, had one son, Reggie McKenna, which you have, who is alive and well and building airplanes in Florida. Lol divorced McKenna and didn't remarry until she was a senior citizen.

270313: Laura and Irene do not show up with the family in the 1930 Census. It is possible they were both married at that time.

Laura and son Reggie are living with her mother in the 1940 Census and she is listed as divorced at that time.

There is a Boston landing record for a Laura McKenna coming from Yarmouth NS on the SS Yarmouth on 29 July 1941. It is possible Laura had paid a visit "home" to Newfoundland that year but there is no way of verifying the identity of the person in question. It seems unlikely though because she was in the company of a Daniel McKenna.
