Dear Chris,

Wow, isn't technology amazing? Thank you very much for your time andeffort into sending me this information. Joe was my father's uncle and Harry was my great grandfather. Joe literally ran away with the circus, moved to the U.S. and disappeared into the ether. These documents are fascinatingand I will definitely pass along to my family and order Harry's full military records. My father is still living, my grandfather Sol (Harry's brother) passed away in 1961. I will look into the archives to see what mightcome up. Please do pass along any other information that you find. I still have not found any other Jewish Morrys beyond our own family and hope to find others in the future.

Hi Jeff:

Long time no "talk" to.

I don't know if you are aware of the fact that the National Archives (http://www.archives.ca/02/020122_e.html) has released a great deal of new information on the net of late that is of interest to genealogists. Among other things there is the Census of 1901 and I am dredging through it slowly looking for relatives. It is very slow because it is not indexed by name so you have to look at images of every sheet of theenumerators books for the electoral district that interests you to find anything.

Another interesting set of records that they also provide a key to onthe web and full details on for a small fee is the military records of all soldiers in WWI. While perusing the four Morry names that showed up there I discovered three are my relatives but one is more likely to be your relation, not mine -- Joe Morry. Sound familiar? His father was Harry Morry and he was from Winnipeg but listed as originally from "Warsaw, Russia". He is also listed as being Jewish and I have yet to find a member of my family a member of that faith with the exception of my late brother's children, who are a weird combination of Catholic and Jewish due to the religions of their two parents.

I enclose the front and back pages of his enlistment document. If he is related to you and you want his full military records you can obtain them by ordering online (40 cents a page plus shipping and handling).

270208: Viewed Military Record at National Archives. Found out he was a Sergeant in the Canadian Army Dental Corps. Mole left cheek, scar above left eyebrow. Vision was 20/80 in both eyes at time of enlistment. Interestingly his file included a dental chart - not seen in other soldiers' files, probably because he was in the dental corps. He had several molars extracted and a number of porcelain fillings. DATE 19 JAN 1920 PLAC Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

Well I am not quite the last to know, I guess you guys are, but just to let you know that Mick and Jennifer got themselves married in Niagara Falls yesterday as a lunchtime feature at the CAN-AM Niagara 2009 daylily meeting. Patrick Stamile, the greatest daylily hybridizer in the world escorted Jen down the aisle and his wife Grace Stamile was matron of honour. The Stamile's are formerly high school teachers from New York, now resident in Florida, and they had one child, Erin, who was killed at 17 by a drunk driver. They have sort of taken Mick under their wing in recent years. Best Man was John Peat, a Canadian daylily hybridizer and president of the Canadian Hemerocallis Society, on whose property Mick is currently renting a half acre to grow on some of his cultivars for introduction and sale. I gather there is a video, and there are wedding photographs as Tony Thompson from Alabama is a professional photographer whose family has run a family photography business for three generations. Jen wore a beige two piece suit I persuaded her to buy several years ago because it looked good on her, and Mick wore Dad's dark blue suit and camel hair coat.

They will be home later today.
