Nov 25. A nice day, went to a wedding. Jim Meade' s daughter Kathleen was married to Jim Brien at Nuptial Mass. There must have been at least 150 guests. Sure was a good time, I don't know where the day went. I came home at 10.30. Had a lovely .time listening to the old Come-All Ye' s and recitations, etc. which wil1 soon be taken over by rook and roll and jazz. Lots of the young folk don't want to hear a Come-All-Ye or songs like Annie Laurie, My Ain Folk, Take you home again Kathleen, the Isle of Innis Free, and songs like that. Times are changing very quickly and not always for the best. Tho' the kids are fine. I like them. They are enjoying themselves in their own way.

O'BRIEN, James Patrick - Passed peacefully away in the presence of his three sons in the Palliative Care Unit, L.A. Miller Centre, St. John's, on August 9, 2006, aged 72 years. Predeceased by his wife Kathleen (Meade) in 1999; parents Michael and Philomena O'Brien; brothers: Leo, Jack, William (Pad) and sister Gertrude O'Keefe. Leaving to mourn his three sons: Richard (Sheila), Shane (Audrey), Barry (Theresa); four special grandchildren: Sheldon, Michael, Erica and Blair (friend Rebekah), all at Ferryland; brother William O'Brien, Nova Scotia; sisters: Florence Stowe, Nova Scotia, Mary Paul (Joe), Annie Jordan (Brendan); special friend Lavina Kane; special nephew Bob Stowe, also a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Resting at Fahey's Funeral Home, Fermeuse on Wednesday, August 9 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, August 10 from 2 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Trinity Church, Ferryland on Friday, August 11 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
