I cannot be certain that I have chosen the correct John Winser/Winsor. What makes me suspicious is the age of the groom -- 34. This would be irregular in England in those days, since it notes that he was not previously married.

A curious situation arises with the burial record attached to this man. The age given at the time of burial would actually coincide the baptismal date of his brother of the same who I have assumed died in infancy, leaving his parents free to name a second son in his honour in 1803. I have found only one family in which the parents were named Henry and Elizabeth Winser in Denbury at this time and hence have concluded that the two sons named John attributed to parents of these names must have been brothers. But it is possible there was another family whose parents were Henry and Elizabeth Winser, who were not residents of Denbury proper but who occasionally had baptisms and other significant events recorded at St. Mary the Virgin. It seems a bit far fetched so I am attaching this death record to this John Winsor despite the apparent discrepancy in age at death. Errors on such things were common, especially when the decedent was not married or was widowed and had no close family to provide the correct information for the register.

I have just discovered that there were two sons in this family who were Christened at St. Mary the Virgin in Denbury and both named John Bully (or Bulley) Winser. The first was Christened in 1833 and the second in 1835. I had noted that there was an illegible note under the name of the first son in the church register and I now think it implied that he was Christened and then died soon afterwards. The next son born was given the same name in his honour.

Therefore the earlier information on the inclusion of a boy of this name in the 1841 and 1851 Censuses and the tentative date of death attributed to him by another researcher, Karen Stephens in 1859 apply to the second boy and not the first.

I will make these corrections today.
