Notes
General:
It would appear from the recorded birth dates on NLGS website transcribed from the C of E Ferryland District records that Mary Louisa and Ida Frederika were a twim of each other. But the fact that sibling Caroline Maud seems from these records to have been born less than nine months before Ida and Mary makes on wonder if the transcribed records may be in error.

140813: No way of knowing when the actual birth took place as it was not recorded on the birth/baptismal record as transcribed on NGB website. What is given here is an error on another transcript which took the baptismal date as the birth date.

Notes
General:
081106: Her namesake Mary Oxenham was buried at St. Saviour's on 07 01 1832. She was the bridsmaid at the wedding of James Howe Carter and Thomasine Dunsterville Pyne. Other than that I do not know what if any relationship she had to the Carter or Pyne families.

I suspect that she and her husband had a difficult relationship and may have separated since divorce was unheard of in those days. She is buried in Caplin Cove, Conception Bat where she had no relatives. He was buried in Ferryland where all the Morrys and Carters are buried. It is possible she was living with someone else at the time of her death. Her headstone says nothing of who erected it, not her family and not her husband, who was still alive at the time.

"Hi Christoper - I noted your family tree info on Ancestory.com which shows that Mary died in Caplin Cove, Conception Bay, Newfoundland. As a young boy I was informed by my grandfather, Walter George Cull, that Mary in fact died in Old Perlican, Trinity Bay, and since their was no Anglican Cemetery there she was bought to Caplin Cove (a distance of approx. 3 miles) to be buried. I seem to recall him saying that she was visiting a friend in Old Perlican and became ill. I attended the Annual Flower Service in Caplin Cove today and the headstone is still in good shape. By the way Victoria Mary LeMessurier Badcock was married to my grandfather's brother Donald Arthur Badcock. I visited a few days ago with "Auntie Vic" at St. Luke's Nuring Home in St. John's and she is doing quite well for her age, a young 98. Thought I would share this information with you. Regards, George Cull"

041118:

Her sister was married to one of the Ayres. This may have been the connection through which the adoption of baby Gertrude Louise was arranged.

041118:

The above information came for Harcourt (Buzz) Gardiner's family tree of his wife Gertrude Louise Mews, referred to above. Here, from his contributed Pedigree Resource File on FamilySearch.com is more on this topic:

"Her sister was married to one of the Ayres. This may have been the connection through which the adoption of baby Gertrude Louise was arranged.

I believe Gert's adoption was arranged. Violet was a young girl, working in Bertha's home, pregnant and Harold was the father. Bertha's sister was married to the Ayre of Ayre and sons. Leonard [Mews -- i.e. Gertrude's adopted father] was a trusted employee who had just married and according to rumour his wife had just miscarried. Len was promoted and given 50,000 in Ayre shares just at this time.

The Tessiers, including Harold's brothers, seemed to take an interest in her as a young married woman. Harold knew exactly where to find her and had been following her career. It looks like a private adoption was arranged and probably through Bertha and her sister. This family was
renouned for its good works."
