Bridget A. "Betty" O'Keefe - Passed peacefully away on Tuesday, March 28th, 2017, surrounded by loving family, Bridget A. "Betty" O'Keefe, in her 99th year, of Bethlehem, PA. Born in Cape Broyle, NL. Predeceased by husband Frank, infant twin daughters, granddaughter, parents Edward and Catherine Coady, siblings, Mary, James, Catherine, Margaret, John, Joseph, Charles, Michael, William, Elizabeth, Thomas and Frank. Leaving to mourn two sons, two daughters, 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and families. Visitation at Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem on Friday, March 31st. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 1st, 12 noon at St. Anne Catholic Church, Bethlehem. Interment at Holy Saviour Cemetery. Interestingly, they both misrepresented their ages on the marriage record, he taking away years (he was 32, not 30) and she adding years (she was under 19, not 21).

"Arthur md Johannah Coady dgt of James Coady and Bridget Boland. I would like to point out that Johannah's sister, Bridget, married Peter Morry and they moved out to BC. Bridget lived to be 104-106 years old, her sister lived to be 102 and their other sisters were all in their 80s-90s."

"Re: Peter Morry who married Bridget Coady(my grandmother's sister) is the son of Wm Sweetland Morry and Jane Winsor. He was baptised at the Ang Cathedral in St. John's on 28/8/1854 Peter Frederick. (Wm was listed as Master Mariner). Bridget converted to the Church of England with Peter and according to a taped interview of Bridget on Mother's Day 1976 she said that she was married in St. John's, they lived in Ferryland, and they arrived in BC on January 6th 1900. She also said that she would be 105 on August 22, 1976. My cousin taped the interview but unfortunately she wasn't interested in history so she didn't ask her anything relevant (which was too bad as she appeared to have an excellent memory). They had 10 children all living in BC. "

Infer her birthdate to be Aug. 22, 1871.

"Ask your Mom if she remembers the Sunday evening, that she and Peter and I were going into St. Barnabas church, and she took the arm of a stranger - thought it was your father. He and I stayed back to see how far she would go before she discovered her mis-take. We had a good laugh."
