This was what might be considered to be an advance party of remotely related Le Messuriers emigrating to the US - San Pedro, California of all places for some reason. At this time I am not familiar with the exact relationship that existed amongst the four on this sailing but the person referred to as " Ernest"  is actually Francis Ernest and his family followed afterwards. One of the others mentioned is referred to as "Osborne". His name is actually Osmond.
