"Dear Chris/Lanny:

I don't know if you are interested in the White family but I thought you might be interested in this picture (you might already have it). It is Kathleen White married to Radair Jacobson on 15/08/1906 @ Fd. I suspect this may be their wedding photo but I am not sure. She would be dgt of Michael White/Mgt Driscoll and first cousin to your antecedant, Catherine White.

She died just after her baby was born. I was told that when her child was born she just turned her head to the wall and died. The baby died shortly afterhwards. I am sure you probably know this already - I am just telling you what I heard, just in case you didn't know.

300708: I knew she died in childbirth but it was only when I saw a photo of her gravestone that I realised she was buried with two stillborm girls not one. She died due to the fact that she was having twins.

110313: Just discovered her death record and that of one child only on NGB. The above information is incorrect. While she may have had two stillborn twin children, that would have been an earlier event. The cause of her death appears to have been related to the birth of Johan R. Jacobsen in late April-early May 1914, who died a couple of weeks later on May 10, 1914, and she herself did not die until a month later on June 21, 1914. So the story has been romanticised over the years clouding the actual facts of a nonetheless tragic event. Her husband was distraught as might be imagined and left the country never to return again.

She is buried in the same plot with her parents and one sister in the new RC cemetery in Ferryland. Their gravestone reads on the four sides:

"In Loving Memory of Henry White Who Died at Ferryland Dec 1st 1895 Aged 52 Years RIP

Also His Beloved Wife Margaret O'Driscoll White Who Died Mar. 5th 1935 Aged 84 Years. RIP

And Their Daughters Kathleen Jacobsen Who Died June 21st, 1914 Aged 26 Years RIP

And Catherine White Who Died April 6, 1887 Aged 7 Years RIP"

Death record indicates she was 40; she may have hidden her age from her husband, who therefore have been 6 years her junior. But her gravestone says she was 26. Who to believe?
