There is a gravestone in Ferryland Catholic Cemetary that reads: "Erected by Robert Powls for his wife Bridget, died 21 December 1873;64 yrs. Also her mother Bridget Morry, died 20 January 1872; 106 yrs."

"Re your email about the two Bridgets. I believe that the Bridget Morey buried in Ferryland, age 106, is not a Ferryland Morry at all. She was Bridget Kelly from Bonavista married to a Morey. She really died in Halifax but her daughter, Bridget, married to Robert Powls (died the following year 1873 in Ferryland). I read somewhere that Robert was a police constable stationed in Ferryland and probably put the two names on the headstone. Unfortunately, I can't find the reference for Robert being a police constable. I guess I didn't think it was important because I didn't feel it was the same Morrys. I am open on this but this is what I think."

011006: Looked at this again today and I think the problem is a transcription error on the gravestone. Husband's name was likely Morey as Enid suggests and not a Morry at all. I am making this change for now.

150108: Alfred is the grandfather or Christine Madams, whom I "met" on the Genes Reunited website after posting my protected family tree there. There was some confusion at first over whether she was a descendant of this Alfred Morey or the one from Brixham but in the end we agreed that it was the Stoke Gabriel family from whom she was descended. Thus, ifI am ever able to connect the earliest known ancestor in that line, William Morey, who was born in Stoke Gabriel in about 1800, to the Matthew Morry line we will be able to determine our relatedness to one another.

Message from Christine today: "My Alfred Morey was born Aug 1890 in Stoke Gabriel and his parents were William Henry Morey & Lila Laura Jeanette(Chick). General:
The name was misspelled Alce Morey in LDS and I have corrected it, even though the error in LDS is based on the actual Stoke Gabriel record of birth (viewed at LDS Family History Centre in Moncton in January 2004). The Stoke Gabriel record of her death viewed on microfilm at Maritime History Archive on Aug. 29, 2001 shows: "May 23, 1707 Alice Moary". Spelling of surname is clear on both entries on microfilm.

All spelling is precisely as seen, however I believe that the microfilm was in fact of a transcription of the Church records, not the original church records themselves and therefore it is possible that errors were introduced by the person who performed the original transcription:
