Graduation: St. Patrick's College, Thurles, Tipperary, Munster, Ireland. This is apocryphal. She indicates on her Facebook that she attended St. Patrick's, Thurles. But I have never heard of this from her personally or any member of the family and it seems more like wishful thinking than reality. Like most of the Morrys, she liked to creatively embellish her reality.

Notes
General:
Sister Priscilla's headstone in the Ferryland Catholic Cemetery reads: "Pricilla Anne Morry, 1930 - 1932."
Her birth date (given on Aunt Jean's records) is September 17, 1930 and that of Aunt Catherine is given as September 1, 1930. These are clearly anomalous.
Aunt Catherine (email 02/09/00) isn't interested in providing exact information on her birth but suggests the error may be on her birth year, which could be in 1928: "I go by 1930 for working purposes as it is the only document I have. I could have been born in 1928 - but I do not know for sure." On the strength of this I am adjusting her birth year to 1928 as it makes more sense. This also is borne out by the age given for her (7) on the 1935 Census of Ferryland (see scrapbook entry under father Howard Leopold Morry).
030620:
Aunt Catherine always claimed to have Irish heritage and thorughout her adult life would regale her friends with her character as Queen Maeb. But I only just realised that this delusion when much further back and that on the 1945 Newfoundland Census she listed her heritage as "Irish".

080116:
I have added St. Luke's as the place of Christening of the children in this family because it is most logical since the events were recorded at Petty Harbour C of E registry, not at the Cathedral in St. John's.
In a transcript of births found in the Petty Harbour C of E Register made by Nimshi Crewe for Aunt Jean he recorded that there was a birth date of April 8, 1866 put down in the register. Either he made a mistake or the dates of birth and Christening were reversed. I suspect the latter and I am making the appropriate changes today.
290621:
Note that the burial record is out of place on the church register and pushed in at the bottom of the page under the year 1878 but it is clearly recorded that the burial actually occurred in 1873 and was therefore not a result of the diphtheria epidemic in the winter of 1878-79.

On Ancestry.com I found this under England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations), 1858-1966 <http://www.ancestry.com/search/db.aspx?dbid=1904&enc=1>:
Morry, Cheryl Johanna of 55 Bartholomew-road Kentish Town London spinster died 21 July 1948 at Hampstead General Northwest London Hospital Haverstock Hill London N.W.3 Administration London 21 January to Reginald James Morry advertising salesman. Effects £150
It would seem that anyone, even an infant, who had possessions worth more than a certain amount had to have their estate pass through probate.

I had been told (by Aunt Phyl I believe) that Cheryl died of burns suffered in an accident but in Dad Morry's diary after he heard the news from Aunt Phyl this is how the tragedy was described:
(25)Foggy again. Just had a phone
call from Phyl saying Cheryl had died
from shock after an accident. It
must have been an awful shock to them
as it was to us when we heard it.
Of course shock would have resulted from a serious accident involving burning but it seems to conflict with what I had been told earlier that she died as a result of burns.

Just received the official copy of her birth certificate that I ordered last week from the Provincial Office of Vital Statistics. It does not reveal any new information about the birth. And clouds things considerably with a couple of errors that may have been on the original register or were a result of its transcription to the official copy I ordered.
However, it does give the place of birth as Ferryland, which I very much doubt because Gladys and Reg had moved to St. John's for the winter according to Dad Morry's diary. Reg did go back to Ferryland at the beginning of the fishing season but it was never suggested that he was joined by Gladys and Cheryl.
I am positive that she was born in St. John's, so Reg must have given his current address when the birth was registered and they took that to be the place of birth. Note that the birth was not registered until Nov. 24, 1947 when Reg left Newfoundland to rejoin Gladys and Cheryl in England. They had already left Newfoundland around Aug. 30 1947 according to Dad Morry's diary.
The name given for Cheryl's mother on my copy of the official certifate of birth is Gladys Joyce as if Joyce were her surname, not her middle name. I do not know if this error is found on the original register or if it was made when the clerk copied the information from the register to my copy of the official birth certificate.

Terra Nova Advocate: Married: May 12, 1880, at St. Lukes Church, Ferryland, John T. Winsor, Esq. of Aquaforte, to Clara Isabella, eldest daughter of John Morry Esq, of Ferryland. By Rev. Edward Botwood.
Note that Clara was only eldest daughter by virtue of the early and untimely deaths of her siblings, Agnes and Alice. Note also error in initial of groom.
200806:
BDM on CD-ROM repeats some of the errors above. It reports that marriage notice appeared on 18 May 1880 in: 1) Gazette (Royal Newfoundland Gazette) 1807- 2) Morning Chronicle 1865-1881
Bride was the eldest daughter of John Morey (sic) from Ferryland. I'm pretty sure that John Henry Morry did not spell his surname the old way (Morey) so there was an error either in the paper or the transcription. This transcript also spells out the groom's name as John T. Winsor, getting both the initial and surname incorrectly.
031012 Geoff Martin located the May 25 1880 copy of The Newfoundlander online courtesy of Google which includes this announcement:
"On the 12th inst., by the Rev. Edward Botwood, Dean of Avalon, at St. Luke's Church, Ferryland, John J. Winser, Esq, of Aquaforte, to Clara Isabella, eldest daughter of John Morry, Esq, of Ferryland."
This version gets the spelling of Morry correctly but gives another erroneous spelling for the groom's surname -- Winser. At least if got his middle initial correctly.
120713:
There seems to be little known about St. Luke's Anglican Church, when it was constructed and when it was demolshed for lack of use. The problem is that there are almost no living Anglicans in Ferryland anymore and hence no one with a connection to this church. I had made notations in the family tree file on many instances to a baptism, marriage or burial taking place at St.Luke's, but I now realise that in many of those instances I may have been making an assumption that was not justified. There seems to have been an earlier church that existed before St. Luke's, which was near where the Forge Hill or Fox Hill Cemetery is located. The previous church was believed to have been located near the Pool, which makes sense, but no one knows if it too was called St. Luke's and how long it lasted. Here are some notes on the subject from an email sent on July 11, 2013 by Jean Carter Stirling and contributed to by Ida White Michael:
Hi, Chris & Enid == Ida and I are here together staring at the screen and trying to decide what info we have that you may not, in the context of St. Luke's C of E Church in Ferryland -- which is not much!!!
Ida remembers as a child hearing that the first C of E church was in the Pool. Neither of us remembers knowing the name of it. This church was there for sure during the years the Robert Carter Journals ( 1832-52) were kept, and there were sometimes resident ministers, and sometimes just visiting ones ..... the ones who were resident also had other nearby places that they were responsible for, like Aquaforte, Renews, etc. . One, Rev. Hamilton, was there as a bachelor to begin with, taking the place of Rev. Hoyles who married and moved to St. John's. Rev. Hamilton after several years married in Halifax, and brought his bride back to Ferryland, where they had several children, some of whom died, and his wife died in childbirth and is buried C of E cemetery on Fox Hill, near the R.C. priest's house, North side of Ferryland. This first C of E church is very central to the life described in the RC Journals; it was heated only with a pot bellied stove, and Robert Carter, on Christmas could not attend church because his arthritis was so bad and the place so cold. We don't know how long it lasted, or when it was replaced by St. Luke's, which surely must have been built after the first church was no longer usable.???
Ida also remembers that the remnants of St. Luke's was between the priest's house and Friebairn's property. Ursula Kieley remembers as a child the remnants of it as Ida described.
Ida's great aunt Ida Clapp Mainwaring's wedding picture Ida remembers, was in the old Sea View house, which was the old Carter house where Ida was born, torn down in 1965. (we have a photo of a painting of that old house).
Great Aunt Blanche Tessier was married at St. Luke's and Ida had a copy of the original wedding invitation, addressed to her grandparents, Clara and Will Costello. The latter were married in 1913 and so St. Luke's was still there then. Blanche was married in St. Luke's and had the reception at Sea View, same as her sister, Ida. We don't know who the officiating minister was, and that original wedding invite was given to Carl Tessier, who has since died in Gander, his home.
Notes
General:
Second name may have been Isabell (Jean Funkhouser's information) but birth registration in C of E records shows it Isabella.
Minister at Christening was H.H. Hamilton according to C of E records in Ferryland.
050703: Gravestone in Church of England Cemetery, St. John's, Newfoundland, wrongly indicates year of birth as 1855.
